Factory Configuration


This tutorial will show you how to use the router’s Factory Defaults feature. This includes resetting the router’s configuration settings to their default values. This article is designed for CCNA students, network engineers, and anyone looking to reset the Linksys wireless router’s configuration to the factory defaults.
When purchasing a used Linksys router, it is recommended to reset the router’s configuration settings to their default values and then start configuring the router according to your needs. Upon restoring the router’s factory defaults, any configuration done before will be lost.
Read the following instructions in order to restore the router’s default settings:


Step 1: Open your favorite web browser application, and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address field. Then press Enter.

Step 2: In the authentication dialog box, enter the administrator’s username and password. The default values are admin/admin for the username/password. However, on some Linksys router platforms, the default value for the username is the blank and for the password is admin.
Step 3: Click Administration.

Step 4: Click Factory Defaults.

Step 5: Click Yes in order to restore the factory defaults. Otherwise, click No.

Step 6: Click Save Settings.
